Being open to the public 7-days a week we’ve seen (and have fixed) many hair related fiascos. One common thing we help clients resolve is correcting their ‘at-home’ hair dye issues. For some, covering those greys without too much trouble may have worked out okay. But statistically many more experience the negative side of coloring their own hair resulting in that brassy, orange, dull, damaged look. If this is you, and you’re in need of some hair color corrective services, we have you covered.
Here below is a list of frequently asked questions and answers on this topic:
How Does Color Correction Work?
Hair color correction works much like correcting the imperfections with concealer and your makeup. It’s about correcting those unwanted color tones and repairing the damage that has been done to your hair with at-home hair dyes. Your Special FX Salon colorist will evaluate the condition of your hair and determine a plan for the best course of action to get the hair color you wanted in the first place. We use professional hair color products to ensure that your hair is healthy, nourished, and manageable.
What’s Involved in Hair Color Correction?
Sometimes your corrective service can be quick and easy, and other times, it may take multiple appointments for successful color correction. It all depends on the current condition of your hair, its color, the texture of your hair, and what type of correction is needed. Before any color corrective service, the first step is a consultation with your Special FX Salon colorist to evaluate the best approach to restoring a healthy hair color while repairing any damage that’s been done.
Help, My Hair is Too Light!
No worries! This is typically the easiest hair color fix, but always use a professional colorist, because blending the wrong colors can cause more issues. Our colorists can determine if using a darker color over the top is adequate to even out your hair color or if you need a more complex color correction service.
Help, My Hair is Too Dark!
Lightening your hair without turning it orange or brassy can be a bit more challenging. Our skilled hair colorists are trained in techniques that include color cleansing, nourishing, and the process of correcting and lightening the hair. This may take multiple steps depending on the severity of your hair’s condition, but we take pride in making sure your hair is healthy and strong.
What are My Color Options?
Once your corrective treatment is completed, we offer a full menu of hair color options. We offer full-color services, overlays, full foils, partial foils, balayage, ombre, and much more, so you can get the perfect look you’ve always wanted.
Before you leave our salon, your hair stylist will recommend the best Pureology® or Redken® professional hair care products that will protect your new color while keeping your hair healthy, strong, and supple.
If you’ve had to resort to coloring your hair over the years, our skilled staff at Special FX Salon can help you get your rich, fabulous hair color back!
